New video: Talking Pictures ‘Mirrors’ ’Mirrors’ is the new single from Talking Pictures, released May 23rd through Split Records. Debut single ‘Mirrors’ released May 23rd (Split Records)

Lana del Rey is a young singer weaving cinematic dark pop for the 21st Century- music wrapped in smoky, sultry and glamorous overtones. Born in the rural town of Lake Placid, New York, Lana then relocated to a series of places- Alabama, New Jersey and New York city, but now spends most of her time in London. No matter where in the world Lana is, her love of film noir, Italian landscapes, big churches and roller coasters. The memory of faded stars like Bette Davis, Kurt Cobain, Nina Simone and Elvis are the chorus line for her music, and her love of New York is her heartbeat. Lana is currently in the studio laying down tracks for her first album, but you can check out this new video for a preview of what’s to come. It is not very often you come across an act that is so unique sounding yet, at the same time, instantly recognisable. An act that can traverse genres with such skill and dexterity like they have been doing it for years; fusing the current desire for wild electronic productions and a pop sensibility that everyone enjoys, meet AlunaGeorge. Out of the ashes of previous projects, Aluna Francis and George Reid met through the Internet just under a year ago, shortly after George remixed ‘Sweetheart’, a song featuring Aluna’s vocals.
Over the past year, NewVillager has made rumblings around the internet with catchy pop hooks, intimate live shows, and visually mind-bending videos. It’s with much excitement that they announce the release of their official self-titled debut coming June 21 on IAMSOUND. www.myspace.com/newvillager
Hot on the heels of their incredible debut single, The Bullitts – a full on multimedia project and the brainchild of super producer du jour, Jeymes Samuel - delve further into their ‘Action Adventure’ genre with second single, ‘Landspeeder’.
Receiving its world premiere this week on Radio 1 as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in the World, ‘Landspeeder’ blends the kind of whiplash beats you’d expect from Samuels’ hip hop production with his own deep, soul vocal styling.
The Bullitts’ debut album, ‘They Die By Dawn and Other Short Stories’, due out later this year, features some of the world’s most respected and celebrated artists including Tori Amos, Jay Electronica, Mos Def and Lucy Liu.

”London’s Chapel Club offer a slightly poppier take on the Jesus and Mary Chain/My Bloody Valentine-patented noise pop, and are able to unleash beautiful swirling guitar blasts…” The Guardian
Chapel Club follow their acclaimed debut album ’Palace’ and sold out UK tour with a new single on May 16th. ‘Blind’ is taken from the LP. For a band that made their name playing off-the-wall venues – including warehouses and artists’ living rooms – it’s a fitting nod to what they call a ‘crazy, incredible, nightmarish, amazing’ first eighteen months.
Carl Barat releases a new EP on 2nd May featuring brand new music and live recordings. He has just embarked on a tour of the UK with support on all dates from Foreign Office and in April a documentary about The Libertines gets its premier at the East End Film Festival. The EP contains Carl’s recording of an unreleased Libertines track called ‘Grimaldi’, a new recording of ‘Death Fires Burn at Night’, a cover version of the Langly Sisters track ‘Sing For My Supper’ and ‘This Is The Song’ previously unavailable in the UK. ‘The Libertines – There Are No Innocent Bystanders’ is an all-access music documentary that spans the period of time from the announcement of their reunion to the weekend of Reading and Leeds Festival in 2010 where they played their biggest show to date. Filmed by long-standing collaborator Roger Sargent, it will be shown at The Troxy in Limehouse this week.
I used to have a musicblog and I still get sent quite a bit of music.
This is me sharing it with you.
Because I love you.
And you can feel that.
